Middle School lacrosse follows a lot of the OHSAA policies and dates, however, the Lacrosse Ohio site is still the primary location for information

MS Tournament Final
Only 2 local schools ended up competing in the state finals. Unfortunately, we had no state champs this year. Look for us to make a comeback in 2020!

Season Notes
Rankings are really starting to take some shape now. Jr. Crusaders and Milford battled to an 8-8 tie on Saturday to make it a tough call for 1st place. Mason and Boro square off this week in a #3 vs #4 matchup at Wade Field. The Kings Knights appear in the poll for the first time this season. Only a couple weeks left!

Season Previews
Jr. Crusaders
Coach James Rice’s 10th campaign as head coach faces the annual challenge of bringing kids together from 15 different parochial and public schools as one cohesive unit. Helping with that challenge is a talented and experienced coaching staff with Moeller alumni Tim Buckley and Jay Fischer guiding the club. Ginnetti, Stines, McMurry and Feeley return to help guide the offense which also features Powell, a strong face-off midfielder along with Weisgerber and Barzizza as finishers near the crease. The defense has risen up the ranks of the Crusader’s youth program and is led by Hais, Powell, Hawkins, Tinnemeyer (who also sees time as a FOGO) in front of the Kidd in between the pipes. 7th Grader Bolt will also see time this year and learn the ropes for some strong continuity for the following season. The Crusaders top the Cinday Lax preseason rankings and will be a contender for a state-title run but that top ranking will make sure opponents are ready for the matchup.
Lakota West
Head coach John Donahue leads an experienced group that when excelled last year largely as the East B team seeded 1st in the Division III at the state tournament based on their 10-0 record. Austen Levett returns at goalie in front of the 8th grade d-poles Michael Donahue, Alex Key and Conner Snowden. The Firebirds offense is led by Riley Brown, Will Allen and Patrick Lakeberg at attack. Malik Hartford and Garrett Price shore up the first middie line.
Lebanon
The success that comes from the Lebanon lacrosse program is often envied by much bigger school districts and Head Coach, Ryan Chamberlain leads this year’s program into a promising 2019. Coach Chamberlain played at Captial University and will guide the Warriors with the knowledge that made him player of the year there. Blake Newlin will man the pipes as a 7th grader but don’t let his youth distract you, Blake has been a standout goalie since the 3rd grade. Sam Routson, Calvin Kilgallon, Bo Hegarty, Carson Dwire and Nick Bedwell will be continuing their on-field torment of opponents that began last summer on their travel team. Returning players also include: Carson Forte, Patrick Newman, Will Tanner, and Jackson Newman.
Little Miami
Building off the most successful team in school history, Little Miami returns with its starting attack and goalkeeper intact. For Coach Matt Traister and Assistant Joel Miles to improve on last year’s 10-1-2 record they will need to find stability in new players in the defensive and midfield lines. Rylan Dowers, Collin Remenowsky and Devin Traister will lead the offense. Remenowsky was the team’s second leading goal scorer last season and Traister led the club in assists. Jonathan Claytor, Damius Hodges, Will Miles, Ian Smith and Dean Crouch will all log significant minutes and may just provide the depth and stability that Panthers will be looking for.
Mariemont
Discipline. Respect. Passion. The Warriors program always wears these as their motto and it shows in the long-term success of the program. Mariemont returns 5 players from last years team that led to a Division II state championship team. Twin brothers Mark and Evan Morgan, goalie Luke Brennaman, faceoff specialist David Dorsten and d-pole Henry Dunne will lead the Warriors in their 2019 campaign. 3rd year coach John Christopher will seek additional contributions from the attack position with Patrick Crowley and Reed Gearhart. Jack Peirol and Ray Lizak provide depth at middie and rising 7th grade LSM Patrick Sweeney will be a player to watch as well.
Mason
The Comets don’t rebuild, they reload. This year will be no different as they continue to chase an elusive Div I state championship at the MS level. Head coach Ken Gronholm leads a group that had experience on the A team last year. Returning d-pole Grady Wilson will be a shut down defender infront of netminder Nick Harris. Weston Simmons and Peyton Gronholm will work scoring opportunities near the crease from their attack positions. The middie positions are deep and equally skilled making the Comets ability to outpace their opponents a likely outcome. Gavin Dewitt, Aiden Schramm, Michael Neari and Carter Vaughn show versatility from draw men at X to both-way middies.
Milford
The Eagles finished 4th in Division II at the state tournament last season and look to continue that success with a solid group of 8th graders. The coaching staff returns to guide Milford this season which could be a special one for the club. Despite placing 5 previous players on the Varsity program at Milford HS, the MS group returns a talented attackmen Zach Sweeney and Bryce Burleson along with versatile middies with Sawyer Copp, Alec Weeder, Luke Ray and Ty Sweeney. Joel Brown is a formidable force at LSM and shut-down d-poles Jacob Smith and Tyler Rust will keep offensive foes from trying to get to Jack Prior in the cage. Milford is deep, talented and strong and should be competing in the Division I group fighting for a state title this season.
Oakwood
Coming off an inaugural 8-4-1 season, Oakwood Junior HS will look to keep building momentum with a more formidable schedule and raised expectations. Three returning d-poles is a coach’s dream and Coach Steve Martindale has Nate Clark, Nate Meyer and Peter Skardon to thank for being the brakes on any team’s offense. Tripp Martindale, Max Parker, Robbie Reed and Quinn Schreck will supply the offensive fire power for the Lumberjacks.
Tipp City
Only a second year program that teams often need to find on a map, the Red Devils coaches Steve Ritzenthaler (Wittenburg) and Dave Cobb (Ohio State) have the club looking to improve upon a respectable 5-8 record last season. This year’s MS edition is lean and young but the growth of the sport north of I-70 gives a lot of hope for the future.
Turkeyfoot
Have any doubt about the growth of the sport? It continues to ramp up south of the Ohio River – Turkeyfoot MS is in their 4th year as a program and building momentum. Luke Rhoden serves as the team’s captain and will be a player for opponents to take note of. Brady Meyer, Jackson Goetz and Noah Koenig are all gaining moment and will be keys for the success of this year’s team.
